Community Events

The Social Committee is organizing community events so we have the opportunity to get to know our neighbors and to foster a sense of community. Events will continue to be added, so check back often!

Progressive Dinner Parties

Have you ever wanted to invite your neighbors over for a dinner party, but don't want to go to the trouble and expense of cooking a multi-course meal? Now is your chance to meet your neighbors, enhance community spirit, show off your new home, and enjoy a nice meal...and you'll only be responsible for cooking one course!

The Orenco Gardens Social Committee is organizing a series of "progressive dinner parties." Here is how they work:

The Committee will organize interested individuals/couples/households into groups of 4-8 people. On an evening that is convenient for all, the dinner party will begin at one home where appetizers would be served. The entire party would then proceed to the second home, where an entree would be served. This would continue until all of the households involved have had a chance to entertain the group. There would typically be four courses (starter, entree, dessert, coffee & drinks), and most courses would be approximately one hour long, so anticipate an evening of four hours or more.

Parents Night Out/Child Care Exchange

Mom and Dad: do you need a night out to reconnect with each other? Parents: did your last movie date feature over-the-hill Super Heros or Robots? If you can't remember the last time you had a romantic conversation, held hands with your spouse in the movies or just had a picnic in the park, check out the group now forming where parents exchange child care with another couple, allowing you to go out feeling good about who has your kids.
