Landscape Committee Meeting

29 June 2005

 

1)    Called to Order 6:45 pm

2)    Attendance

a)    Present: Barbara, David, Krishna, Paula

b)    Absent: Cynthia, Dylan

3)    Drainage bid for Arbor Park (w/ gazebo)

a)    Showplace said $3048 for main drainage issue

b)    Do we want to consider changing plants and not doing new drainage? Or just getting different bids (bids for same thing or something different)?

c)    Barbara will contact different companies to see what the options are.

d)    Not sure what other bid relates to ($1100). Barbara will find out.

4)    Drainage for Oak park (on OG Drive)

i)      $1086 & 734 Showplace bids Ð no longer on the table

(1)  New option: Multi-flow devices that collect water and send it to a few mini-wells

(2)  Barbara will contact others for options here, too.

5)    Other bids

a)    Removal/injections for ailing Oaks in Oak park (new issue, not in Showplace bid)

i)      Krishna will talk to Board about getting arborist to look at the westernmost Oak  in Oak park

ii)    Bid and recommendations re: injections for other Oak are forthcoming

b)    Bigger tree circles, spray & edge

i)      $45 + 168 bid for Arbor Park, $145 + 395 for big play park, $45 + 168 for Oak park.

ii)    Unanimous approval to recommend all 3 to Board.

c)    Rose Garden

i)      First 2 items are part of their job anyway.

ii)    Unanimous approval for all 3 items, but ask them to give better price on rose due to time of year (plant sales!)

d)    231st St. monument area

i)      Continue to observe and revisit later.  Bid looks too expensive.

6)    Pet waste bid

a)    Revised Showplace bid for Dogipot Litter Bag Dispenser:

i)      Purchase, assemble and permanently install = $417 each

ii)    Purchase, store and replenish bags as needed = $153.00 for 2,000 bags

b)    Unanimous approval for 2 stations, 1 each in Arbor park and big play park (basketball courts, etc.)

c)    Will monitor effectiveness/cost and consider more stations later.

7)    Cedar trees in the area behind 5801 through 5857 Orenco Gardens Dr (by MAX tracks)

a)    Planted in late 2004, so still under warranty, more likely an installation problem, since found too much sand around roots

b)    Report to Board, ask for authority to pursue original plant installer

8)    Website

a)    Add landscape related CCRs to landscape committee page

i)      Also relevant links/phone numbers for recommended plants, etc.

b)    David & Krishna will work on this

9)    Landscaping CCR violations

a)    Recommend to Board to start following up on backyard problems, etc.

b)    Can this committee do anything directly?

i)      Probably not, but can report to Board/NWCM on who is violating, make sure letters/follow-ups are happening.

ii)    Barbara will get status reports from NWCM.

10)          Approval of Minutes

a)    Minutes from the April 2 & June 4 meetings were reviewed and unanimously approved.

b)    Krishna will send notes from May meeting.

11)          Agenda items for next meeting (Aug 13):

a)    What is, and who defines, acceptable landscaping?

b)    Possible change of meeting day/time

c)    Follow up on landscaping for apartments, setting bid process timetables
